TV watching

Last night while watching Joan Rivers (Joan is such a hoot) move in with her daughter Melissa, I whipped up a few of these cards for Operation Write Home.
Sometimes I don't know how I ever made cards without Word and Sure Cuts A Lot.

Yet, another reason why I make cards for our heroes.

Dear Ms. Sandy,
We just received your box of cards for our detachment.  Thank you so much!  Your cards are much sought after and many of our troops were excited to see the new cards come through.  I really liked the Halloween cards and picked up a couple to send to my son and nieces and nephews.  Thank you also for the handwritten notes for the troops.  We decided that they would be best for our patients.  We’re planning on putting a note on each of the patient’s beds when they first arrive so they have something positive to think about as they recover.  Once again, thank you so much!!!

Sincerely,
LCDR C.O.

S&S Sketch Challenge #34

In this weeks sketch challenge one was asked to make a "thank you" card with the color yellow incorporated in it - this is what I came up with using those ideas and the measurements shown.
I used my sewing machine to zig-zag around the center rectangle - the stitching is really yellow even though it doesn't show up very well.  I have been wanting to sew on cards so I decided to jump in and sew on this design.
I have recently purchased Sure Cuts A Lot and the "thanks" is one of the phrases that comes with the program.
Since I like simple this one is really simple.

Out of my comfort zone

This card is my take on the OWH sketch challenge for this week.
I used my word processing program for the "stamp" and dusted off my Cricut and used the Accent Essentials cartridge for the "accent".
I like these challenges because they make me think outside the box.  Below is the image with the measurements of the challenge -

Throwdown

"Throwdown with Bobby Flay" you might ask, not hardly.  This "throwdown" is with Operation Write Home.  The only requirement is to use patterned paper.  I made a few of these cards the other night and decided to submit my version of using patterned paper.
The paper I used is a "The Glitter Mat Stack" from DCWV, and the stamp is from Hero Arts.

My Sunday Evening

This is the card I made for this weeks card sketch for Operation Write Home.  I wanted to incorporate my white gel pen so this is what I came up with - lots of hugs and kisses.  I used a digital stamp from The Cutting Cafe.

Card Challenge

Operation Write Home is having "Sketch Challenge #27". I decided to participate in this challenge and here is what I came up with. Easy and simple - just my cup of tea.

What is REALLY important

I saw the following on the Operation Write Home Facebook page today and wanted to share it with others. Makes one realize what is really important.
"Tired of news the news coverage given to a spoiled 20 something year old? Here are a few 20 somethings worth knowing about....Justin Allen 23, Brett Linley 29, Matthew Weikert 29, Justus Bartett 27, Dave Santos 21, Chase Stanley 21, Jesse Reed 26, Matthew Johnson 21, Zachary Fisher 24, Brandon King 23, Christopher Goeke 23, Sheldon Tate 27~These 20 somethings gave their lives for you this week. Lindsey who?"

No idle hands

I realize it's been a week since I've posted but I have not been watching TV and eating bon bons.
This is a sample of the cards I have been making for Operation Write Home.
I have been learning the ins and outs of digital stamping and also using up some of my scraps. These "digis" are just a few I've found at the The Cutting Cafe.

One image three cards

When I cut the bird on the limb from the Songbird cart I fell in love with the image and decided to use it on a few more cards. I came up with the idea of having the same basic look on the cards yet a different "look". The other tools I used to make these cards were the Wild Card and George and Basic Shapes carts and the Martha Stewart Crafts Deco Fan Punch.
These cards were made for the Operation Write Home project.

Time to make a difference

The painting is finished for today and now it's time to go create some cards for the Operation Write Home project. I'm not sure how many cards I will finished today, I am just glad I can help our heroes.
